Burma and Cyclone “Nargis”

Burma ought to be on the tongues of every believer in a cry out to God for their relief! First, the country has been under siege for years during the Junta reign of terror, and many Christians and Buddhist Monks have been arrested tortured and killed over the years! It’s too bad it takes a cyclone as damaging as “Nargis” to wake us up to world events, but I pray that we are sufficiently awoken to its devastation, and to the suffering many people face on a daily basis.

Where it is true that most of the ongoing world relief is carried out by Christians across this globe, we as American Christians , must take Romans 12:15 seriously and “Weep with those that weep!” It is us as Americans who are blessed beyond our needs, and who are called to do what we can for the global expression of the kingdom of God (See Luke 12:47-48). It is because of the gospel, and the fact that we are in Christ, that we can sacrifice ourself, and act with those that suffer. Please continue in prayer, and ask God how you can be involved in the ongoing relief of suffering in this world!
